Extreme VX
With the Icarus EXTreme VX the joint venture Precision Aerodynamics and New Zealand Aerosports has reached a leading position in the segment of ultra high performance canopies, other manufacturers had to react to with own products. The new answer from Icarus Canopies is the Extreme VX, an elliptical 27-cell incorporating the new "X-braced Tri-Cell” technology. Through the renewed improvement of the seam technologies, the distortion of the canopy profile (the "breathing” of the canopy in flight) could be improved another time compared to the EXTreme FX, from which directly results an even better performance. Now the possible distortion of the VX profile only is still 8.75% ( FX 11.5%, conventional 9-cell canopies app. 20%). The profile of the Extreme VX is therefore similar more to a wing than to a "mattress”, and convinces with a up to date unknown stability and cleanliness of canopy profile.
The pack volume of the VX is app. 5% higher compared to the FX or 25% higher compared to a conventional 9-Cell. This is easily compensated by the possibility to jump a substantially smaller canopy. The VX can carry app. 5% more weight than the FX.
